Solar FX

FAQs

Does Solar FX offer financing?

SOLAR FX does not offer financing. We recommend that you speak with your local bank if a loan is desired.

How do I apply for the REAP grant?

SOLAR FX works with a dedicated REAP grant writing company that we will put you in touch with if you are interested in solar after we have presented your proposal to you.

Do I have to pay for the entire project upfront?

No, we bill in stages, which is called out in our Contract:

  • Stage 1: 25% - Deposit at the signing of the contract
  • Stage 2: 40% - Upon Owner’s approval of the completed design, engineering and drawings for the Work, approval of all permitting and applications to Utilities and all Authorities, and for final release of procured materials for the Project
  • Stage 3: 25% - SOLAR FX has completed the installation and the array is ready to be wired by the electricians
  • Stage 4: 10% - The solar array is commissioned (turned on)
If I reach out to you, will you pressure me to do a solar array?

Absolutely not. In fact, if we determine that a solar array is not financially beneficial to your property or business, we will share this with you. SOLAR FX’s priority is the customer, not the sale.

Will the solar panels power my site if the utility grid goes down?
  • Not in itself. Due to National Electric Code the solar array must disconnect if the utility line goes down. This keeps linemen safe as they work on downed power lines.
  • If you want to have backup power if the utility goes down, we can provide battery backup to work in conjunction with your new solar array

Do you offer batteries?

Yes, we can provide a customed solution based on your needs.

Does the government offer rebates?

No, but there are federal tax credits available for commercial entities. The tax credit is not a rebate but rather, it is a credit that can be used against future tax liability. Please check with your tax specialist for details

Will hail destroy the panels?

The solar panels are very hearty! We have a system installed in Ft. Dodge that withstood 3” hailstones with zero damage!

Is solar safe?

Yes! Everything is built to the current code and is very, very safe.

Can I use solar panels to power just my garage?

No, the utility requires us to connect the solar system to your electrical service in some way. We have many options on how this can be done, but we cannot target any specific building or area of your property. The solar system will offset or deter the need for electricity to come to your property.

Can I totally get rid of my electric bill?

No, there will always be a minimum of the base meter connection fee. Depending on the utility, there could be other charges that may apply.

Can I add to a solar system down the road?

Yes. The utility would view this as a new installation.

Do you have staff to build my project or do you hire people to build the solar array?

SOLAR FX builds your project with our own staff and our own equipment. We do, at times, hire additional help through an agency.

What are the major concerns for a solar array on my property?
  1. Shading by trees or building is our primary concern
  2. We need enough room to build the project so we take great care to be sure we can even build the project
  3. What will the utility allow. SOLAR FX goes to great lengths to be sure we know what is allowed by your utility provider

how long does it take to build a project once it goes to contract?

This depends greatly on which utility we are working with and the size of the array. Another aspect that factors into the time it takes to build is cooperation from the Owner. For example, SOLAR FX will need signatures from the Owner on documents for the Utility company and the city. Delaying in signatures and payments can delay the project. However, generally speaking, a project could take anywhere from 3 – 6 months.
